On behalf of Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear, Barbara Atwood of Kentucky Tourism presents Michelle Edwards, Kentucky Marina Association and Bill Gary IV, Green Turtle Bay Resort with a proclamation for Saturday, August 8, 2009 as Marina Day in Kentucky.
That day nationwide was National Marina Day, started by the Association of Marina Industries to recognize not only the economic impact marinas have on waterfront communities but also the enhancement to quality of life for recreational, environmental and social aspects of those communities.
Home to two of Kentucky's largest marinas, Grand Rivers is a tiny village with less than 250 households...but over 600 boat slips. Green
Turtle Bay Resort and Marina and Lighthouse Landing Resort and Marina
serve thousands of people who come to enjoy
Kentucky and Barkley Lakes.
See the Grand Rivers Tourism Facebook page for great photos of National Marina Day.
